How long have you been professionally coaching and how did you get to be a career transformation expert?
To answer this question, it’s probably best that I share with you a defining career moment and my personal story that brought me to where I am today, coaching people like you on exactly what to do to transform their careers, experience meaning and success at work and make more money doing meaningful work that they truly love and know that they were meant to do.
Just like you, when I graduated from college I had BIG dreams and goals for my life. In college as a business student, I dreamt of using my business skills to help change the world. So I sought out a career as a CPA to fulfill this vision. While my CPA career gave me tremendous professional opportunities, challenges and rewards, it also left me feeling deeply unfulfilled and unsatisfied.
I decided to do something different. I decided to listen to my heart and make career choices based on my innate gifts and natural strengths and what I was most passionate about. I wanted to utilize my natural ability to connect to people and my creative thinking skills in my career. One thing I knew for sure is that I had always enjoyed mentoring, training and developing staff. I discovered that I experience great joy when I am helping others grow.
I entered a master’s degree program in Organization Development, with a concentration in Leadership Development, and for the first time in my life I loved what I was learning and was doing exceptionally well, very easily. I soon realized that my bookcase was filled with books on similar and/or related topics. I had been studying the field since the early 90’s! It was then that I realized I was onto something BIG. During graduate school I was introduced to the field of professional coaching and to several professional coaches. I was fascinated and impressed by how their work positively impacted individuals, groups and organizations. I identified with their personal drive and motivation.
Within months I realized that coaching was the type of work I wanted to do. In 2004, after taking a 6-month leave of absence to pursue my master’s degree fulltime and to help address a personal family issue, I returned to my corporate CPA career. Three months later I said goodbye to my days (and 9 years) working as a corporate CPA to pursue a more meaningful career as a professional coach. Family members, friends and colleagues were shocked with my decision to follow my heart and step out on faith. In fact, a part of me was shocked as well! Yet, inside I knew I was on the right path. I just knew I had to be true to me. I had already successfully navigated several career transitions and promotions within the field of Accounting and Auditing – from Corporate Accountant, to External Auditor, to Internal Auditor. All of my career transitions were designed by personal choice, driven by aligning my talents, passions and priorities. However, this transition was different. My definition of success was different.
Living in alignment with my values was top priority. Changing careers and allowing my purpose and passions to take the driver’s seat were new to me. I knew I would need help. I hired a professional coach to help me on my path. In 2005, after receiving professional coaching training, I opened my coaching practice to do work that I love – helping high-performing purpose-driven leaders and visionaries have rewarding careers that they love and a life rich with joy, meaning and purpose.
Who are your clients, exactly?
I work with high-performing, purpose-driven executives, entrepreneurs, career professionals and small business owners, just like you, who are bold, smart, driven, creative, passionate, highly motivated and successful. However, they have never been taught exactly how to manage their careers from the perspective of their gifts, strengths, values, lifestyle goals and career passions or how to make a meaningful career transition so they increase their income doing meaningful work they truly love and know they are called do to.
Their job titles are typically: Independent Consultant, Manager, Director, Vice President, Founder, CEO, Small Business Owner, Entrepreneur
Since 2005 I’ve professionally coached hundreds of clients, individually and in groups, who work in the following fields (and the list is growing daily):
|Architecture||Marketing||Supply Chain Management|
|Engineering||Non-for-profit||Training & Development|
|Finance||Organizational Development||Urban Planning|
|Higher Education||Performing Arts||Writing|
|Human Resources||Professional Coaching|
|Internal Auditing||Project Management|
What happens if you haven’t yet worked with people in my field?
As a executive coach, I have worked with hundreds of seasoned business professional clients in a wide range of fields and industries. Most likely I have worked with people in your field or a related field. However, I have to share with you that if I haven’t, you are not at a disadvantage, quite the opposite. Here’s why: people in your field are probably ALL doing the same things to grow and succeed in their careers. This creates a lot of blending in and not a lot of standing out. What my current and former clients have found exceedingly helpful is that I bring an extremely holistic and strategic perspective to their career transformation process and give them strategies and resources they’d never heard of in their field. Because of this, they stand out in an overcrowded marketplace and are the ones who are attracting more money, opportunities and success.
How are you different from other Executive Coaches?
First, I take a holistic and strategic approach to career success, one that combines mind, body and spirit in practical and actionable ways. My personal transformation enables me to draw from my own experience to provide my clients with time-tested tips, strategies and tools for success. In addition to my professional training and certification as a coach, as well as a master’s degree in organization development, I bring my commitment to life-long learning to my clients. I ONLY work privately with high-performing purpose-driven leaders and visionaries who are ready to make more money doing meaningful work that they truly love and know they are meant to do and want to learn effective career management skills that will serve them the life of their career. In other words, I don’t coach individuals who are currently unemployed and are just looking to find “a job“. I refer those clients to other coaches or organizations. What that means to you is that I am very focused on what works for leaders and visionaries. Because my focus as a career coach is very narrow, what you receive from me is honest and straightforward expertise on what works best – added in with a healthy and necessary dose of compassion, humor and encouragement! That’s why my clients get great results. I know that you have big dreams and high expectations for your career and life – I love that! And that you have a heart to empower others, love helping people succeed, want to make a positive impact at work and a difference in your career. I also know that you are committed to following God’s purpose and plan for your life. I respect and admire that, and I feel the exact same way.
What type of personality do you work best with and what is expected of me?
I designed my courses, retreats, workshops, and coaching programs for high-performing leaders and visionaries. I work best with self-motivated, success-oriented, proactive, optimistic, life-long learners who are interested in professional/personal growth and development, understand the value of self-awareness, are willing to take advice from an expert, find humor in their personal quirks, love to laugh, believe in Jesus Christ and the word of the Holy Bible. If you have demonstrated an ability to implement new mindsets, beliefs, behaviors and habits, recognize when you’re getting in your own way and making excuses, and are widely known in your circle as a someone with a big heart, of strong character and who honors their commitments, we’d mostly likely work well together.
Coaching expects certain things of the client. Primarily, clients are expected to focus on their goals, to act courageously by overcoming obstacles to their goals, to have compassion for themselves as they try new skills, tools and strategies, to exercise self-discipline in their learning, growth, and development process, to complete their assignments and to be 100% honest and authentic with themselves and their coach.
What exactly is The Career Transformation System and what does it include?
Transforming your career begins with you determining what you want for your career, discovering your innate gifts, unique strengths, core values and career passions, and then identifying your ideal position and/or career path. Then it means setting clear goals, creating a strategic career management action plan and taking serious action to make your career aspirations a reality. Here’s what the System helps you to do:
1. Make Your Career Transformation A Priority
The first step is really about prioritizing what’s important. Look at your schedule, bank accounts and current responsibilities. Do they reflect your priorities? Your mindset is critical to bringing your priorities front and center, so the first step is to adjust your outlook to include what’s most important to you. Although this sounds so simple, I’ve found in talking with hundreds of professionals about their careers that too often this is something that actually receives little attention. That being the case, it is no surprise that so many people consistently feel overworked and undervalued. Making career transformation a priority means not only setting healthy boundaries around your time and energy, but also creating the time to do the work that’s required for you to make more money doing work you love and know you are meant to do.
2. Determine What You Want
The second step involves getting crystal clear on what you want for your career. This includes gaining clarity of the type of work projects you want to be working on and in what capacity, identifying the type of day-to-day work responsibilities you want to have, understanding the type of organizational culture you naturally thrive in and the industry that you desire to work in. You need to pinpoint exactly what you want. Being clear on what you want to experience in your career means clarity, not only of what success looks like for you, but also on how progress towards this should best be evaluated, measured and tracked.
3. Identify Your Strengths
The third step is discovering your unique value that you bring to every project, team and organization. This is key to not only identifying your ideal position/ideal career path, but also to taking a strengths-based approach to managing your career. This process includes evaluating your successful career track record, objectively assessing your extensive work experience and the results that you’ve helped your clients and the companies you’ve worked for achieve and identifying your innate gifts and talents. This information will allow you to make a meaningful career move that is aligned with your innate gifts, strengths, core values, expertise, experience, career passions, long-term vision of success and which pays you well. Discovering your strengths allows you to differentiate yourself from others in your field, which is essential to attracting opportunities to you and having you stand out.
4. Set Clear Career Goals
The fourth step is a big one: its main objective is for you to narrow your focus so as to increase your impact, effectiveness, and results. This is about setting clear goals and measureable results to track your progress and success. It also involves setting up an accountability system that will keep you on track. It will need to address limiting beliefs, fears and doubt, as well as procrastination so you are moving your career forward in a meaningful, authentic and purpose-driven way.
5. Create Your Plan
The fifth step is where we take the information and insights gained from the previous four steps and build upon them to create a strategic career management action plan. This plan is the blueprint that gets you from where you are to where you want to be in your career. It needs to be detailed enough to be effective in helping you experience significant growth, development and success, personally and professionally.
6. Implement Your Plan
The sixth step is about taking consistent action. Follow-through is critical to your success. This includes looking at your current network, tapping into your resources and going after opportunities, as well as growing your network with other high-performing purpose-driven leaders and visionaries who are being paid well in meaningful careers where they are making a difference through their work. By persistently following through on your plan, you will also develop effective career management skills that you’ll use throughout the life of your career.
7. Celebrate Your Success
The seventh step is about evaluating your results, achievements, and overall success. It’s time to review and celebrate your breakthroughs and accomplishments, plus evaluate the impact and effectiveness of your plans of actions. Acknowledging your success is a powerful way to shift your energy, lift your mood, experience increased satisfaction and attract more success.
These are the steps of the Career Transformation System that I’ve developed over the last 9 years in working with hundreds of clients, individually and in groups. When all of these steps are put in place, the results can happen very quickly. For some it happens within just a few weeks. If someone is starting from scratch, it might take a couple of months or so, but what happens is that in every case you’ll attract more opportunities (that you actually want) in record time and consistently. That’s how powerful the system is!
Does this really work?
Yes! The result of our work is a powerful approach to managing your career that, over time and with commitment, works to consistently have you make more money doing meaningful work that you truly love and know that you are meant to do. (See Praise).

You say you only work with high-performing purpose-driven leaders and visionaries. How do I know if I fall under this category?
If you have a vision of your future burning inside of you, are able to articulate your imagination and insight and are committed to taking consistent action to manifest your vision, consistently exceed expectations and have a track record of getting the job done, have a deep desire to develop your innate gifts and unique strengths, are driven by God’s purposes and plans for your life, believe in asking for/receiving help, support and advice from others, are not willing to allow your fears and self-doubt to hold you back, understand the power of walking by faith and maintaining a positive mindset and have been known to say “failing to plan is planning to fail” or “nothing changes, if nothing changes”, you fall under this category.
I’ve never worked with a professional certified coach before. How do I choose a Coach?
Ask yourself what career or business goal, if successfully achieved, would radically transform my career, business or leadership in the next 12-months? Then ask yourself what type of professional help do I need in order to achieve this goal? You want to choose a professionally trained and certificated coach that has experience and a successful track record in helping their clients achieve the results that you want. You also want to make sure that you connect with your coach. The coaching relationship is unique and it is important that you two are able to connect.
How Does Coaching Differ:
From Therapy? Coaching is based on individual-initiated change in pursuit of specific actionable outcomes. Coaching is forward moving and future focused.
From Consulting? Coaching assumes that individuals are naturally creative and resourceful and are capable of generating their own solutions, with the coach supplying supportive, discovery-based approaches, frameworks and strategies.
From Mentoring? Coaches are not typically mentors to those they coach, although some coaches provide mentoring as part of their coaching.
From Training? Coaching is less linear without a set curriculum. Coaching is individually customized based on the needs and goals of the client.
How can I determine if coaching is right for me?
Ask yourself if you are ready to receive honest and straightforward feedback, guidance and support and to collaborate with a professional who is fully committed to your success and fulfillment. If you are ready to make real changes in your career and do the work that’s required, then coaching may be a beneficial way to for you to learn, grow, develop and succeed.
Can I contact some of your former clients to see what it’s like to work with you?
Yes! I encourage you to! Please go to the Praise page and read all of them. See which ones you feel drawn to, either because the person has achieved the results you want to achieve as well, or perhaps because that person is in a similar industry or profession. Then feel free to contact them and ask what their experience was in working with me and what results they received from my coaching programs.
How quickly can I expect results?
Obviously, this depends on a number of factors, including how long you’ve been in your career, your current career situation and how much you put into the assignments that I give you. Some results will happen quickly, others will not. That said, virtually all clients see results within the first few months of our working together.
How can I guarantee myself that I will experience meaning and success in my career?
Do all of your assignments and come to your coaching sessions fully prepared with an agenda, ready to be coached, and as present as possible, as if the career and success that you desire depends on it! Be totally committed to your career transformation. Understand that it’s not a “quick fix”, it’s not magic, and it takes up to a year for you to plant all the seeds, reap the harvest and enjoy the fruits of your hard work. All of my clients who have fully committed to the coaching program and diligently applied every step of The Career Transformation System have successfully transformed their career, either by changing jobs, changing careers, being promoted or launching a new business, in much less time than they would have on their own.
Will I recover the investment I put into this coaching program?
Yes! Absolutely! Many clients are excited to report that they have been able recoup their investment very quickly in the form of a new higher-paying position or client, a promotion, a bonus or salary increase. I want you to stop reading for just one moment to ask yourself, “What is a new higher-paying more meaningful position worth to me?” “What is the average income I will make over my lifetime from that one salary increase?” Chances are, that amount will more than cover your investment. Most likely, you will make 10 times what you invested in this coaching program in the next 3 years. What you’re regularly getting with this program (and my coaching) is a series of deep insights and personal breakthroughs that will move your career faster more quickly than you would on your own. That’s what you’re investing in – more results, motivation, resources, skills, strategies, development, growth, success, meaning, inspiration, and income, not just “information” It’s what you’ve been looking for and haven’t found until now.

Most importantly, you need support. Having someone who understands your career needs and goals and supports you through the process will help keep you focused, on track and moving forward in an authentic and purpose-driven way.
